My review:

After losing her fiance and her job, Raylynn decides to ‘get her groove back’ at her best friend’s wedding in Hawaii. Arriving a couple days early, she decides to go out and find a one night stand. Little does she know her ONS is the best man in the wedding, also there early to take a break from his job as a NYPD officer.

This was an enjoyable book. Raylynn and Harley are both relatable, fun characters and I liked them together. It was also fun catching up with Liv and Jameson, the couple getting married, from season 1 of 425 Madison. A lot happens in this book, but not ‘Too Much.” There’s just the right amount of action, humor, heart, and steam.

Raylynn gives me a once over then bursts into laughter.

I look down to see what’s so funny and nearly lose it.

Son of a bitch.

There’s a huge white spot on the crotch of my shorts. It doesn’t help that I’m hard as a rock too,
because of what she’s wearing.

“I didn’t mean to interrupt. You could have said you were busy.”

“Funny. Get the hell in here so I can get these off,” I grunt.

She steps inside my apartment and looks around. “Nice place.”

“Thanks. I’ll be right back.” I dart toward the bedroom. “It’s paint by the way,” I call over my
shoulder before shutting the door.

Last goddamn time I go paintballing with Jameson and Liam too.

“That’s what they all say,” she yells back.

When I come out, I’m dressed in a nice pair of jeans and a polo shirt. Raylynn gives me a
whistle and motions for me to spin around.

“Forget it. You’re not objectifying me.” I grin. “And that paint. Ask Jameson what happened.”

She holds up her hands and snickers. “I’ll pass, but thanks.”

“You good to walk in those?” I point to her shoes. “We’ll need to take the subway.”

“These old things?” Raylynn lifts a foot. “I could run laps in these.”

“We’re not running laps, but I’ll take your word for it.”

She reaches for my shoulders and starts massaging the muscles. “Aww, you’re tense. Are you
in a mood?”

I’m tense because she’s standing in my apartment looking like a whole damn snack, and I know
nothing is going to happen besides a few drinks.

“Sweetheart, the only mood I’m in is the mood to get out of this apartment for a while,” I lie.

“Well then , let’s get the fuck out of here!” she cheers. “Ooo. Wait a minute. Harley Wagner , are
you wearing a gun or are you happy to see me?”

“Christ, I’m tense, and you’re in a really good mood.”

“Seriously, are you wearing your gun?” I sigh and slip my keys into my front pocket. “Yes, Raylynn. I’m packing heat.”

“Well, that I knew.”

Somewhere in Wine Country by Toby Jane

Nothing could go wrong with this scenario.

I watched my family’s vineyard fall under the auction hammer, holding back tears of grief and rage. What should be mine went to a stranger.

I want to hate Kane McCallum and his dark blue eyes. He has everything: looks, money, even a big, lovable dog. Now he’s offered me a job managing the vineyard—my vineyard.

I can stay in my family’s home, but only if I work for him.

I’m a billionaire looking for something more.

I don’t want to care what happens to prickly Meg Villier, but I see hard work and courage in her calloused hands.
Passion in the curve of her generous mouth.
Tenderness in the way she treats my dog.

I want it all: my future billions, the vineyard… and Meg.

My review:

I was so excited to read this book. I loved the story of Kane’s parents, Somewhere On St Thomas, and this one did not disappoint. Meg is devastated by the loss of her family’s vineyard and home, but has no choice but to let it go. Kane buys the property but is taken with Meg’s strength and hires her to stay on as manager and stay in her house. They make a great team, but each has their own baggage and issues to work out. I loved these two together, and DOG!! I’m a sucker for big dogs and the one in this book is huge and amazing. The descriptions of the land, the house, the people, the things involved in the growing and harvesting of grapes, were all so vivid it felt like I was there in person. I am looking forward to reading the upcoming books in this series as well.

Unrequited by Julia Wolf

Unrequited by Julia Wolf is LIVE!! Don’t miss this sexy rock star romance about a curvy, badass drummer and the bassist she loves to hate. #OneClick today!

My proper southern belle mama might disagree, but I say I was born to be a rebel. From the second I got my hands on a pair of drumsticks, my future was sealed. I never fit in anyway, not with my rocker soul and curves that never take a day off.

But what’s a drummer without a band? Oh, that’s right. A cocktail waitress.

That is, until the chance of a lifetime falls into my lap—Unrequited needs a drummer, and I happen to have an ‘in’ with the band.

The only trouble is, Santiago Garza, Unrequited’s broody, scowly bassist, doesn’t want me in his band, which is kind of funny, considering he was the one who took my heart and stomped all over it five years ago.

My career is far more important than hurt feelings though, so Santiago can suck it up and deal. That’s what I’m doing, no matter how many times I remember the feel of his lips on mine. I won’t fall for him this time. I’m done being anyone’s second choice.

My review:

Maeve is a drummer working as a waitress and living with her best friend in NYC. She runs into her old friends from high school, who happen to be the band Unrequited and the sister of one of the members. Turns out they need a drummer so she auditions and joins their tour.

We get bits and pieces of whatever happened between Santiago and Maeve in flashback chapters scattered throughout the book. Because of that incident, followed by some experiences and a failed relationship in LA, Maeve has built a fortress around her heart. She uses anger to protect herself from getting close to Santi again while at the same time bonding with her new bandmates.

This was a pretty good book. I was entertained, but didn’t love it. Their age difference (7 years) and Maeve’s understandable immaturity and inexperience five years previously made their past a bigger deal than it needed to be, and Santiago’s communication problems didn’t help matters at all. Once they finally had a real conversation they were great. But leading up to that was a lot of frustrated reading. I loved her interactions with the band, though. And the underlying girl power theme was amazing. There were some great lines and hidden insights.

If you like rockstar romances, you will enjoy this one I’m sure. The characters seem to come alive, they are so well written.

It’s no secret I was born from money. And I’m destined to take over the family business,
King Cosmetics, when my father retires.
At least that was the plan.
Until my father decided to impose some stupid rule about being married before I take the
reigns. Everything I’ve worked for hangs in the balance and the future of the company is in jeopardy without a King behind the controls.

I never considered Becca part of the plan for taking over, but when one kiss leads to so much
more, I can’t help but wonder if she’s the answer to my problem.

There are two things I love – my beauty blog and Levi King.
Coming from the same social circle has given me ample opportunity to crush on the
generation of King Cosmetics, but he made it clear a long time ago that I would never be
anything more than “like family” to him.

Feeling the need for some serious changes in my life,
I start shaking things up.
It wasn’t part of my plan to kiss Levi, but one kiss could never be enough. When that kiss turns
into a relationship and I find out that Levi’s been keeping a secret, I begin to question if our love affair was too good to be true.

Looks like we’re about to find out if we can truly build flawless foundations for the rest of our
lives. After all 425 Madison is the perfect place to fall in love.

My review:

Becca has had a crush on her best friend’s older brother forever. When he shoots her down, though, she decides it’s easier to dislike him than to deal with unrequited feelings for him. Levi has been focused on the family business, having been groomed his entire life to take the place of his father as head of the company when he retires. However, his father has one stipulation that must be met in order for Levi to do this, and he isn’t backing down. At the same time, Levi is noticing Becca as more than just his little sister’s best friend. Lines get blurred and things get complicated.

I really enjoyed this book. Becca and Levi have so much chemistry between them. I also enjoyed the interactions with Emmy and Jake from Boyfriend Maintenance. Like the other 425 Madison books, however, this is still a standalone and you don’t have to know Emmy and Jake to enjoy this one. Flawless Foundations was a fun, captivating read.

“Em, is there anything at Envirogal open? I don’t know, maybe in research and development?

Or even the finance department? Maybe it’s time to put my degrees to use?”

She pops out her bottom lip. “I really don’t think we have any openings that would fit what you’re

looking for or would enjoy. But I will definitely talk to HR on Monday.” I deflate a little at her response.

Damn it. She was a great resource in the field I would want to work in since I clearly have to work.

“Oh, you should talk to Levi. King Cos is always hiring. They are just so much bigger than
Envirogal. I’m sure he’d be able to find you a great job!” She’s all excited about the prospect,
she’s also completely unaware of my distaste for her brother, Levi King.
Well, if she is aware, she does a great job of ignoring it. Just the thought of her tall, slender,
dark-haired, brown-eyed brother makes me twitchy. Then, of course, my next thought
goes to the fact that he now lives just down the hall. Which means at any time, he could just show up.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that Emmy’s relationship with her brother is stronger than ever. She
deserves it since she has some of the worst parents, but I was as happy as a clam not seeing Levi on a
regular basis.
I’ve known Levi King since I was a freckle-faced, braces-wearing preteen. We’ve always gotten
along but were never friends. With him being two years older than us and seeing him being a
nice big brother to Emmy, instead of an asshole like a lot of the other brothers in our social
circle, I had it bad. My crush on him grew pretty quickly way back then. Unfortunately for me, that
crush never really faded, but instead grew as the years went by. That is, until college.
It all ended one night in my Sophomore year. Emmy and I visited him at Harvard one weekend.
He was a senior and surprisingly welcomed a visit from his sister. He took us out
with a few of his friends to their local hang out and, well, let’s just say I had a lot to drink. I decided
with my liquid courage that I’d flirt a little. He flirted back, to my surprise and extreme
excitement. Toward the end of the night, I thought I was actually getting somewhere. So, when
I finally kissed him, I was in heaven. Until he pushed me away and told me I was drunk, and
he’d never take advantage of a woman under the influence. Okay, so I can commend that. But
drunk me just kept pushing until he delivered his final blow. “Becca, you’re like a sister to me,
nothing can ever happen between us.”
Ouch. You know what’s worse than being friend-zoned? Sister-zoned.

Us After You by Claudia Burgoa

We have to raise my niece together. What could go wrong?

Us After You by Claudia Burgoa is now live!

Emotional, endearing, and full of romance, don’t
miss this brand new standalone heart-wrenching story by USA Today Bestselling author Claudia

Tucker Decker is an infamous billionaire.
He’s ruthless, impulsive, cold-hearted, and hot as sin.
He likes his relationships casual and his commitments without strings.
But when it comes to his former bandmates, he’d do anything for them.
Tragedy demands sacrifice.

I’m an independent woman.
I’ve learned never to ask for help.
And I certainly didn’t want it from Tucker.
When my sister left us both to care for my niece,
we realize co-parenting may be harder than we thought.

Especially when we’re fighting a desire for each other.

When the ghosts of our past come back to haunt us, will we
find that there’s still an us after all?

My review:

In my head, there is an island somewhere on the Oregon coast that houses the entire Decker clan and they are real, living people. I adore this family and every member in it.

That being said, if you haven’t read all the other books, this book is easily a standalone, although the beginning of it overlaps with Almost Perfect. The characters are family so there is overlap, even though the stories are independent of each other.

Anyway, Tucker Decker. Tucker is the son of Thea, that she had given up for adoption as a teen but came to live with her when he was a teen and the family found out he had been abused. He is the grandson of Chris and Gabe, patriarchs of this family and subjects of the first book in the Unexpected series which also includes Tucker’s parents.

Grown up Tucker was part of the Sinners of Seattle band, and while they are no longer a band the members are still close. They are family to each other. When tragedy strikes twice in a short time, Tucker is left as guardian for a precious baby girl. Sage is the baby’s aunt, and named by her sister as another guardian. To keep the baby safe from Sage and Sienna’s estranged parents, Sage and Tucker must live together and coparent her while under the scrutiny of the court system.

Ms Burgoa is a master at emotional storytelling. This book will break your heart and put it back together again. These characters are so real and raw, yet there is so much love surrounding this baby girl and the people raising her. Despite whatever conflicts arise between them, the Decker family is all about love and acceptance, and that is just what Tucker, Sage, and the baby all need, and it’s beautiful.

Turner Artist Management Urgent Action Item:

Find a new frontman for Burn Card.

When one of your top artists loses their lead singer to a solo career, you jump on the problem. When it also involves a devastating breakup with the band’s queen bee, you drop everything and run.

So I did—run. To the east, where I found a young single father so mesmerizing, his talent almost makes you forget he comes at a price. Enormous potential steeped in personal tragedy, what’s an agency to do?

See, I’m just the manager. The story that follows actually belongs to my client Liberty Blake and the enigmatic heartthrob whose world is about to be blown apart.

Because now that the industry wolves have the scent, everyone’s desperate to know:

My review:

This was better than I had anticipated.

Mason West is a single father of a four year old daughter, working long hours in construction to keep his bills paid while relying on his deceased girlfriend’s parents for support help with his daughter. He was in a band in the past that is now famous, and he plays small gigs with some locals on occasion.

Liberty is a founder of the popular band Burn Card, although they lost their lead singer and she lost her boyfriend all in one sudden betrayal. Their manager discovers Mason when he is singing at a local business, and wants him to be the new front man for the band.

There is a lot of resistance on both sides. Mason and Liberty have a strong connection, however, when they stop fighting. Mason is an amazing father, too. He has suffered great losses and at times this book is heartbreaking. The hope wins, though. This book was so good, I hated having to put it down.

Check out the original song “SAYS WHO” ➤

I can’t stop the grin that slides over my lips as I slap the pen back to the table in front of her. Protecting it with my hand, I lean forward with a severe expression. “If I give this back, can I trust you not to attack me with it again?”

Her lips twitch as she fights back a smile. Her eyes lock on mine. “No promises, West.”

“Then I’m not releasing it.”

She raises a brow in challenge and reaches for my hand. I bite my cheek to keep from laughing as she tries to lift my hand, first with one of hers, then with both. When she focuses her undivided attention on yanking my wrist, I can’t hold back anymore. Her death grip is adorable.

“This is a really important pen, huh,” I say casually as she strains with everything she has against my arm.

“The importantest,” she grunts, now jerking with her entire bodyweight. “How the hell are you so strong?”

“If it’s so important, maybe you should stop throwing it at people.”

“It wasn’t my fault.”

“No? How do you figure?”

“You made me do it.”

“Really.” I lean back in a nonchalant stance as she struggles against me, just to piss her off more.

“Yeah. If you weren’t being such a dick, I wouldn’t have had to throw it.”

I’m not sure about the effectiveness of whatever her current tactic is supposed to be, but it involves squatting her cute ass in my direction, so I’m all for it.

“How was I being a dick? Because I wanted you to sing?”

“I see. So because I think you have a killer voice, you threw a pen at me.”

She freezes mid-lunge and stares up at me.

“You think I have a killer voice?”

“But…” She straightens, closing the gap until she’s the one gazing down at me now. “I mean…” Her fingers remain on my wrist, and suddenly I feel the pressure of her touch everywhere else as well. Shit.

By the way her gaze drifts from my eyes to my lips, she senses it too. Her grip loosens on my wrist just enough to drag it up my arm where it rests on my bicep. I suck in a breath, praying my brain is strong enough to stop my ravenous muscles from doing something stupid.

Her other hand reaches for my lips. Two steps closer and she’s almost flush between my legs. Holy hell, I’m suddenly the weakest man on the planet. My only defense is stasis. Don’t move, because once my body gets the signal to react…

Her hand cups my cheek; her eyes search deep. I grip the edge of the chair as my blood pumps with the fury of every pen that’s ever been thrown at a boy by a girl, and freaking hell I’m not strong enough to sit still—

“Um, Ms. Liberty, you’re a-pposed to use your words, not your hands.”

We stiffen and glance over to find Brooklyn studying our strange position with clear indignation. The spoon hangs from her mouth as she cocks a hand on her hip, her expression telling us she’s positive adults are super weird and quite possibly poorly-behaved as well.

I clear my throat and straighten in my chair, finally releasing the pen that started it all. Liberty is fighting to keep a straight face as she scoops it off the table and returns to her seat like nothing happened. Just two coworkers working. No big deal.

“She’s right. I’m sorry, Mason,” she says, her voice trembling from the effort of sincerity.

Brooklyn nods in approval before settling her stare on me. “Your turn, Daddy.”

I clear my throat, clench a fist to hold steady. “I’m sorry as well.”

She darts her critical gaze between the two of us.

“And… what?” I ask. Wrong question, judging by the laser that shoots back at me.

“Annnnd… now you sing the friendship song!” She throws up her hands in disbelief at our stupidity. “You know… ‘you say sorry, I say sorry, friends we are again.’” She even directs our symphony with an impatient wave for each beat. It takes us three times through before she’s satisfied with our performance and returns to her show after another huff of frustration.

“Do you think ‘The Friendship Song’ is copyrighted?” Liberty asks, glancing up from her notebook.

I smirk and reposition the guitar in my lap. “I hope not. We could totally sample that for the bridge.”
