My review:
I really enjoyed this book! Donna is a successful erotica author who is frustrated with her work and with her dating life. She wants to write a different kind of romance novel, and she wants to find a decent man to date. Her dates all look good on paper but seriously lack in the personality department.
At a book convention, she meets Todd, the best-friends-like-siblings friend of fellow author and good friend Adeline. They have a good conversation at the airport, but then they fly to their respective homes states apart. When Adeline suggests a girls’ vacation together to try to beat both of their writers’ blocks, Donna readily agrees. Turns out the cabin is owned by Todd, who is the sought-after audiobook narrator of Adeline’s books.
When a winter storm traps Todd and Donna together and her fiance’s medical emergency keeps Adeline away, sparks fly. But it’s so much more than that.
I think what I loved the most about this is that Todd is a normal guy. He is successful enough with his real estate company to have people working for him and he can work when he wants to, but he doesn’t flaunt his money. He drives an ancient car, lives in a run down apartment while owning multiple homes, and wears tacky shirts proudly, because they are handmade by the cashier at the local small-town grocery store who needs the extra money to feed her family. He helps Donna relax and enjoy herself more than she has in a long time.

This quote – THIS is why I love this book. Romance novel heroes are fine, and we enjoy the fantasy. But every once in a while it’s so great to read about someone real, to remind us that love comes in many packages and that is what makes it beautiful. We don’t always need the erotica – sometimes we need the sweet, slow burn.
