Series: Dealing With Love #3
My review:
Charlee and Drew barely know each other, but they have been fighting an attraction to each other since they met a few months prior at the engagement party of Drew’s sister, who is also one of Charlee’s close freinds. Drew is the best friend of Charlee’s brother Brody, who has forbidden them from seeing each other. Not wanting to jeopardize their friendship, and respecting the ‘bro code,’ Drew agrees. Now the whole bridal party is on a weekend trip to Vegas, where Charlee and Drew end up drinking too much and waking up married. After a panic, and realizing they don’t have time to get an annulment before heading back to Seattle, they decide to keep the marriage a secret from everyone (especially Brody) and take care of it once they are home.
Back in Seattle, firefighter Drew and chef Charlee blend into each others’ lives perfectly. Every time they are together they end up forgetting to take care of the annulment and grow closer to each other. Finally, after several weeks, it all comes to a head with Brody, who is still insisting they cannot date each other.
What I liked: Charlee and Drew were both great characters. They really are good for each other. I also liked the other characters, especially Devyn, Riley, and Rainey. Another aspect that was entertaining was the lack of “fourth wall.” Drew and Charlee both address the reader directly and it’s actually quite entertaining.
What I didn’t like: Brody’s over the top protectiveness and ultimatums. He was an ass, and his excuse was way too flimsy for me to believe that everyone accepted it so easily.
Overall: Cute, fun read.
